1. Departmental Inauguration & Guest Lecture – 01.08.2025

The Department of Civil Engineering organized the Departmental Inauguration and Guest Lecture on 01 August 2025 to mark the commencement of academic and co-curricular activities for the academic year. The programme-oriented students on departmental objectives, academic expectations, and professional development opportunities. The guest lecture was delivered by Dr. G. Srinivasan, Founder and Managing Director of KTM Construction and Past Treasurer of COZCENA, Coimbatore who shared insights from the construction industry and highlighted the importance of construction management, skill development, and industry–academia collaboration. The event was attended by 39 participants and contributed to enhancing students awareness, motivation and overall academic engagement.


2. Technical Webinar on “Plastic and the Planet: A Climate Perspective” – 05.06.2025

The Department of Civil Engineering organized a technical webinar titled “Plastic and the Planet: A Climate Perspective (SDG 13: Climate Action)” on 05 June 2025 to create awareness about sustainable plastic waste management and its impact on climate change. The session was delivered by Prof. Dr. C. Gajendran, SNS College of Technology, Coimbatore who discussed the environmental impacts of plastics and practical strategies for sustainable waste management. The webinar engaged 61 participants and highlighted the role of engineers in promoting environmentally responsible practices. The programme encouraged students to adopt eco-friendly approaches in academic projects, daily life, and future professional work, thereby fostering environmental responsibility and awareness toward a greener future.


3.Webinar Series I – Remote Sensing for Urban Planning – 20.08.2025

The Department of Civil Engineering, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council and Alumni Cell, organized Webinar Series I on “Remote Sensing for Urban Planning” on 20 August 2025. The session was delivered by Mrs. A. Kothai, M.E. (Ph.D.), Research Scholar, Anna University, who explained the fundamentals and applications of remote sensing in land use analysis, infrastructure planning, environmental monitoring, and climate change mitigation. The webinar was attended by 34 participants and enhanced students’ understanding of geospatial technologies for sustainable urban development aligned with SDGs 11 and 13.


4. Webinar Series II – Smart Geotechnics: AI, IoT & Sensors-Based Monitoring for Ground Behavior – 22.08.2025

The Department of Civil Engineering organized Webinar Series II on “Smart Geotechnics: AI, IoT & Sensors-Based Monitoring for Ground Behavior” on 22 August 2025 in online mode. The session was delivered by Dr. Sivaraman S., Assistant Manager – Engineering & Technology, L&T GeoStructure Pvt. Ltd., Chennai, who discussed the application of AI, IoT, and sensor-based monitoring systems in geotechnical engineering. The programme was attended by 72 participants and enhanced students’ understanding of modern geotechnical monitoring techniques for sustainable infrastructure development.


5. Webinar Series III – Lean Tools in Construction: Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Kaizen and Beyond – 24.09.2025

The Department of Civil Engineering organized Webinar Series III on “Lean Tools in Construction: Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Kaizen and Beyond” on 24 September 2025. The session was handled by Dr. Prasanna Venkatesan Ramani, Associate Professor, VIT Vellore, who explained lean construction principles and process-optimization techniques. The webinar witnessed 58 participants and provided insights into improving project efficiency, reducing waste, and enhancing productivity in construction projects.


6. Webinar Series IV – Green Building Technologies and Net Zero Energy Structures – 31.10.2025

The Department of Civil Engineering organized Webinar Series IV on “Green Building Technologies and Net Zero Energy Structures” on 31 October 2025. The session was delivered by Er. J. Vijayakumar, Founder & Principal Consultant, SKV Constructions, and Immediate Past President, CODCEEA, who discussed sustainable construction practices, green building concepts, and net-zero energy strategies. The webinar had 88 participants and strengthened awareness of environmentally responsible construction aligned with Sustainable Development Goals.


7. Workshop on Sustainable Construction 5.0: Innovation in Green Materials and Automation (SCIGMA25) – 08.08.2025

The Department of Civil Engineering organized a Workshop on Sustainable Construction 5.0: Innovation in Green Materials and Automation (SCIGMA25) on 08 August 2025 in hybrid mode. The session focused on sustainable construction practices, green building materials, automation technologies, and waste reduction strategies. The workshop was handled by Prof. Dr. G. S. Thirugnanaam, Former Principal, IRTT, Erode, and Er. P. Poornima, Project Lead & Training Division Head, DesignHive, Coimbatore. The programme engaged 114 participants and enhanced awareness of eco-friendly construction technologies and innovative sustainable solutions.


8. Seminar on Carbon Capture, Utilization & Storage (CCUS): Innovations for a Net-Zero Future – 11.09.2025

The Department of Civil Engineering organized a Seminar on “Carbon Capture, Utilization & Storage (CCUS): Innovations for a Net-Zero Future” on 11 September 2025 in hybrid mode. The seminar featured expert talks by Er. James Solomon G., General Manager – Sustainability, Summits Group of Companies, and Dr. Saravanan Jeyabarathy, Founder & Senior Sustainability Engineer, Carbon Figure Academy. The programme witnessed 130 participants and provided valuable insights into CCUS technologies, climate-responsive engineering solutions, and sustainable low-carbon practices aligned with net-zero goals.


9. Blueprint to Budget: A Practical Training on BOQ and Cost Analysis – 10.10.2025

The Department of Civil Engineering organized a one-day hybrid training programme titled “Blueprint to Budget: A Practical Training on BOQ and Cost Analysis” on 10 October 2025. The programme provided practical insights into BOQ preparation, cost estimation, and budget management in construction projects. The session was handled by Er. R. Saravananaja, Chartered Engineer, Saravananaja Constructions, Coimbatore, and Er. Vetrivelu, Partner, KGS Builders, Coimbatore. The training engaged 130 participants and strengthened students’ practical understanding of construction planning, estimation, and industry-oriented cost analysis practices.


10.Seminar on Sustainable Technological Solutions for Pollution Control Measures – 02.12.2025

The Department of Civil Engineering organized a Seminar on “Sustainable Technological Solutions for Pollution Control Measures” on 02 December 2025 at the CIET Seminar Hall, as part of National Pollution Control Day. The seminar featured expert talks by Dr. R. Ilangovan, Former Chief Engineer, PWD-WRD, Tamil Nadu, and Er. R. Velusamy, Former Deputy General Manager, SAIL, Salem. The programme witnessed 200 participants and enhanced awareness of environmental challenges, pollution control technologies, and sustainable engineering practices, encouraging environmentally responsible actions among students and faculty.


11. Value-Added Course I on “STAAD.Pro for Design Thinking & Innovation” – 28.07.2025 to 01.08.2025

The Department of Civil Engineering conducted a Value-Added Course on “STAAD.Pro for Design Thinking & Innovation” from 28 July 2025 to 01 August 2025 to provide hands-on training in structural analysis and design. The sessions were handled by Mr. N. Guganeshwaran, Centre Head and Microsoft Certified Educator, SPARK Educations, Palani. The course benefited 13 students, enhancing their practical skills in structural modelling, analysis, and innovative problem-solving using industry-relevant software tools.


12. Value-Added Course II on “Building System Innovations through ETABS Modelling and Analysis” – 22.09.2025 to 26.09.2025

The Department of Civil Engineering organized a Value-Added Course on “Building System Innovations through ETABS Modelling and Analysis” from 22 September 2025 to 26 September 2025 for civil engineering students. The sessions were led by Mr. N. Guganeshwaran, Centre Head and Microsoft Certified Educator, SPARK Educations, Palani. The programme benefited 22 students and strengthened their understanding of structural modelling, load application, analysis, and interpretation of results using ETABS, improving their readiness for modern structural design practices.


13. Structural Insights: An Industry Visit to High-Rise Construction – An Experiential Learning Initiative – 06.08.2025

The Department of Civil Engineering organized an industry visit to a high-rise building construction site at Mukurthi Housing and Properties, Saravanampatti, Coimbatore, on 06 August 2025. The visit engaged 33 participants and provided practical exposure to structural systems, construction methodologies, material usage, and on-site safety practices. The programme helped students connect theoretical concepts with real-world construction practices and enhanced their understanding of structural detailing and industry standards.


14. From Campus to Industry: Experiential Learning Journey at Veerapandi CETP – 16.09.2025

The Department of Civil Engineering organized an industry visit to the Veerapandi Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP), Tiruppur, on 16 September 2025. The visit, attended by 34 participants, provided practical exposure to wastewater treatment processes, effluent management, sludge handling, and environmental compliance practices. The programme strengthened students’ understanding of environmental engineering systems and highlighted the importance of sustainable industrial wastewater management.


15. Engineering and Technology: Opportunities and Career Scope after Plus Two – 23.12.2025

The Department of Civil Engineering conducted an outreach programme on “Engineering and Technology: Opportunities and Career Scope after Plus Two” on 23 December 2025 at Government Higher Secondary School, Narasipuram. The session created awareness among higher secondary students about engineering education, emerging technologies, higher studies, and career opportunities in engineering and technology. The programme featured interactive talks by faculty members and encouraged students to explore innovation-driven and skill-based career paths.


16. Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Sustainability-Driven NDT Approaches for Resilient and Sustainable Infrastructure – 22.12.2025 to 27.12.2025

The Department of Civil Engineering organized a one-week online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Sustainability-Driven NDT Approaches for Resilient and Sustainable Infrastructure” from 22 December 2025 to 27 December 2025. The programme brought together faculty members, researchers, and industry experts to explore recent advancements in non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques, sustainable infrastructure practices, and innovative diagnostic methods for structural assessment. The sessions focused on integrating sustainability principles with modern testing and evaluation approaches used in civil engineering applications.

The FDP provided participants with hands-on conceptual exposure to advanced NDT tools, structural health monitoring techniques, durability assessment methods, and eco-friendly evaluation practices for infrastructure systems. Expert lectures and technical discussions enhanced participants’ understanding of resilient infrastructure design, maintenance strategies, and sustainable engineering solutions. The programme strengthened academic and research competencies, encouraging faculty members to incorporate innovative, sustainability-oriented testing approaches into teaching, research, and professional practice.
