Dr. K.A.Chinnaraju is the Director of CIET, Coimbatore. He completed his postgraduate degree in M.Sc. (Statistics) from Madras University and MBA from Bharathiar University and later obtained his Ph.D from Bharathiar University in 1995. He has a rich academic knowledge and teaching experience of more than 25 years. He has produced many doctorates and M.Phil Scholars. He is an Examiner and Chairperson of academic bodies of several Universities and Autonomous Colleges in India. He is the University Nominee to the College Committee of various colleges. He is nominated as Academic Council member in various colleges and universities.
He is nominated as member of Planning Board, Syndicate, General Body of universities and colleges. He has served as a resource person for various institutes in higher education, especially in curriculum redesigning and restructuring of curriculum, besides developing innovative teaching learning methods in management. He is a Management Committee Member of Coimbatore Management Association, Member of Coimbatore Productivity Council and Computer Society of India, Coimbatore Chapter.
He received his B.Tech. and M.E. degrees in Electronics Engineering from the Madras Institute of Technology, Chennai during the years 1982 and 1984 respectively. Later he obtained his Ph.D. degree from Anna University, Chennai in “Faculty of Information and Communication Engineering” during the year 2006.He has total teaching experience of more than 30 years in various reputed Engineering colleges viz., Kongu Engg. College, Sri Krishna College of Engg. and Tech., Sri Ramakrishna Engg. College, etc. He has published more than 75 papers in International Journals and 25 papers in National and International Conferences. He has supervised 16 Ph.D’s and 2 M.Tech (By Research) scholars.
He is currently supervising 10 Ph.D's. He is a Reviewer for many International journals including ‘The Scientific world’, ‘IJICT’, ‘WSEAS’. He received a grant of Rupees Five Lakhs in MODROB scheme from AICTE, New Delhi for modernizing Communication Laboratory using Fibre Optic Communication at Kongu Engineering College, Perundurai, Erode, Tamilnadu during the year 1999. He has published a collection of his short stories in a book titled, ”மகளே என்னை மன்னிப்பாயா ? ” (Magale ennai mannippaaya?) on 5th September, 2011 and it is selected as the best short story book for 2011 by “Kavi Oviya”, a monthly magazine published in Chennai. His second book is “ பொறியாளர் ஆகுங்கள், பொறியியல் பட்டத்திற்கு மட்டுமல்ல...” (Poriyaalar aagungal, poriyiyal pattathirku matumalla) which is a translation of the English book “Become an Engineer, not just an Engineering Graduate” written by Mr.Sivakumar Palaniappan. He is currently a Member to the Academic Council of the Anna University, Chennai.
Prof. K. Smiles Mascarenhas is the product of prestigious Institutions like the Loyola College (B.Sc, Physics 1971), Chennai and the Madras Institute of Technology (D.M.I.T., 1975, M.E., 1977), Chennai. After completing his M.E. in 1977, he joined the Raman Research Institute (RRI), Bangalore as Scientist in the Millimeter wavelength Radio Astronomy Department. In addition to Research, he also co-ordinated training programs for budding scientists who joined R.R.I. It was here that he discovered that he has a flair for teaching. After working in the field of Radio Astronomy for about 17 years, he is in full time teaching for the past 18 years. After serving as H.O.D in the ECE department of Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology and Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Technology for over eight years, he is currently the Dean (Academic Affairs) at the Coimbatore Institute of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore.
He has visited countries like U.K., France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands and Israel on professional invitations. He visited Egypt on the way since the country fascinated him from childhood. He has given invited talks at the I.R.A.M., Grenoble and the Scalar feed designed by him is still used in the IRAM observatory. He presented a paper on Compact Quasi optical Diplexer at the XXII session of the URSI conducted in 1987 at Tel Aviv, Israel.
